           Who We Are:

Open Hand of Fredericksburg is a 501(c)3 organization that has been operating a Summer Youth Worker program since 2008 in Fredericksburg, Va., and the surrounding counties that make up Planning District 16.

What We Hope For:
Our Vision

Open Hand of Fredericksburg envisions transformed individuals whose sustainable employment contributes to the revitalization of the community.

How We Plan to Do it: Our Mission

Our mission is to partner with under-resourced youth and their families in the Greater Fredericksburg area (Planning District 16)  to secure sustainable employment through education, leadership development and long-term committed relationships.

What We Have Done So Far:

Since 2008, three years of Summer Youth Worker Programs and commitments by area partners in business, non-profits and government have provided paying jobs for more than 100 teenagers and young adults, giving them vital employment experience and payment for their work. In addition, Open Hand has facilitated mentoring relationships for the teens with qualified, screened adults. It has also provided continuing education classes and training in character formation, ethics, community service, life skills, finance and job skills.

We are always looking for volunteers.
We are always looking for businesses to partner with.
